Acerola (Malpighia emarginata 
) is a tropical small red colored cherry. The natural vitamin C contained in Acerola is characterized by excellent bioavailability. One acerola fruit weighing 4.5 g has as much vitamin C as a kilogram of lemons. 
This fruit also contains vitamins A, B1, B2, and B3, as well as carotenoids and bioflavonoids, which provide important nutritive value and have antioxidant uses.
